He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Benjamin Clayton and Rose Brady Clayton; and his siblings, Caroline Anne Clayton and Samuel Gates Clayton. He is survived by: his daughters, Denise Clayton of Exmore and Deneen Clayton of Exmore; his siblings, Raymond Clayton of Willis Wharf, VA, Joe Paige Clayton (Nancy) of Birdsnest, VA, Shirley Marie Mears (Brent) of Capeville, VA and Barbara Jean Rose (Dave) of Hampton, VA; his grandchildren, Zachary Bowen of Exmore, Megan Clayton of Exmore and Craig DeCarlo of Exmore; and his great grandchildren, Sammy DeCarlo, Max DeCarlo, Katie Marie Reynolds and Bobby Reynolds. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
