She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edward Staples and Doris Christine Williams Baldwin; her stepfather Norwood Baldwin; and her sisters, Peggy Burch and Chris Witt.

She is survived by: her husband Melvin Lewis Lyons; her sons, Matthew L. Lyons (Elizabeth) of Flowery Branch, GA and Gabriel L. Lyons (Rebekah) of Franklin, TN; and her siblings, Phillip Wayne "Butch" Staples (Gerry), John Staples (Carol) of Lynchburg and Gayle Ray of Fletcher, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a. m. For everyone's safety, the family requests, all those attending wear a mask and practice social distancing.
