He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude B. Coates and Bessie M. Coates; his son-in-law Keith Foley; and his nephew Eddie Morton. He is survived by: his wife Myrtle H. Coates; his children, John D. Coates (Dottie) and Teresa Foley-Pulley (David); his granddaughter Sidney L. Coates of Forest, VA; his sister Margie C. Morton (Hugh); and his caregivers, Kristin, Bree and Claude.
