He is survived by: his parents, Jimmy Monteria and Ora Monteria; his wife Sonja Dean Monteria of North Chesterfield, VA; his children, James L. D. Monteria III (Heather) of Midlothian, VA, Marcus C. Monteria (Liza), Sonjia R. Monteria of Richmond, VA and Christy D. Monteria of Glen Allen, VA; his grandchildren, Malyk Monteria, Tianna Monteria, Darius Monteria, Prince Monteria, Imani Monteria, Sade Monteria, Kay'la Monteria, Le'Nya Price and Carter James; and his aunts, Rev. Irene Seaborne (Joe), Geraldine Hicks (Eddie) of Richmond, VA and Berthenia Calls (Lemard). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.
Viewing was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Public Viewing R. E. Pearson & Son Funeral Service, Inc. - Emporia (556 Halifax St, Emporia, VA 23847). A celebration of life was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church (154 Westward Rd, Freeman, VA 23856).
