We are sad to announce that on February 18, 2022, at the age of 92, Verda M. Anderson Petrie of Elliston, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Evans W. Woolwine and Beulah M. Woolwine (Spaulding); her siblings, Dorothy Booher and Calvin Woolwine; her children, Paul Lynnwood Lambert, Perry Lambert, Roger Petrie, Norman Petrie, Deborah Johnson and Sue Stump (Joey); her grandson Travis Johnson; and the fathers of children, Paul Lambert and Russell Petrie (Tom Anderson).

She is survived by: her children, Lynn Butler (Jim), Liz Edlich (Ted) and Robert Petrie (Laura); her daughter-in-law Dolores Lambert; her grandchildren, Sara (Chris), Eva, Ryan, Justin, Kristina, Rebecca, Adam, Mary, Todd, Angela and Jennifer; her siblings, Alice Greene (HL), Berman Woolwine (Myra) and Johnny Woolwine (Kerri); and her close friends, Kenny, Anne Price, Irene Lawson and Gus.

“We moved next door to Verda in 2013. My Mom had passed, and Verda had many losses. We quickly bonded, became good friends. I would walk over and we would have tea. Sometimes I brought my Rainbow sweeper with attachments that reached the high ceiling. Verda would tell such interesting stories of life and family. Wish I had written them down, she might have been a Laura Ingalls Wilder. On a 40 mile trip she stopped me several times, to collect seeds. She was quite a character. She will be missed !”
