He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Griggs and Eva Gillespie Griggs; his wife Helen Marie Griggs; and his brothers, Arthur Griggs, Roger Griggs and Lyle Griggs.

He is survived by: his son Lonnie Gene Griggs, Jr.; his granddaughter Harley Griggs; and his siblings, Mary Johnson, Pat Stevers, Sylvia Mustard, Dreama Griggs, Donald Griggs and Daniel Griggs.
