He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Edwards Hilliards; his children, Alton "Ricky" Hilliards of Shenandoah, Brandon Hilliards (Jennifer) of Broadway, Sharon Hilliards of Elkton, Donna Scott (Gene) of Elkton and Barbara Fidler (Roger Comer) of Shenandoah; his sister Judy Bush of McGaheysville; his grandchildren, Adam Hilliards, Timothy Whitmer, Jonathan Hilliards, Mathew Hilliards, Nickolas Sites, Shawn Sites, Jacob Hilliards, Faith Fidler, Trampus Fidler and Charity Fidler; and his pet Little Bit. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
