He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harry F. Defibaugh and Cloette D. Defibaugh (Hart); his sister Diane K Mariast (Defibaugh); his nephew Kirk F. Sample; his wife Katrine A. Coffelt Defibaugh; his children, Johnny, Jennifer, James, Brandon and Stephanie; and his siblings, Joyce A. Edwards (Defibaugh) of Churchton, MD, Sharron L. Sample (Defibaugh) of Bowie, MD and Donald J. Defibaugh of Annapolis, MD. He was also cherished by six nephews, three nieces, and two great-nephews and one great niece.
