He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Smith Sturgis Jr. and Elizabeth Scarborough Sturgis; his daughter Eleanor Scarborough Sturgis; and his brother Willis Scarborough Sturgis. He is survived by: his wife Katharine Foley Sturgis; and his son James Charles Sturgis. He is also survived by five nieces and four nephews and many cousins.
