He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wiley Staton and Irene Morris Staton. He is survived by: his wife Mary Frances Davis Staton; his daughters, Tara L. Fortune (Jeremy) and Rebecca "Becky" L. Daley (Shawn); his siblings, Janice Dorman, Sandra Morris, Mike Staton (Theresa) and Jeff Staton (Glenda); and his grandchildren, Travis, McKenzie, Owen and Wyatt. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
