She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Elsworth Helsel and Hannah Louise Helsel; her sister Kay Helsel; and her husband Wilbert D. Shifflett. She is survived by: her siblings, Eleanor Douglas (Frank) and Larry Helsel; her children, Claude E. Shifflett (Faye Sprouse) of Earlysville and Janice K. Steppe (Walter Jr.); her grandchildren, Patricia A. Steppe (Trish), Stephanie M. Stewart (Jermaine) and Anthony J. Steppe (Emily); and her great grandchildren, Kendra Steppe, Jaden Steppe, Samara Frye, Mason Steppe, Tramel Stewart and Jerome Rose (Jun-Jun).
