We bid farewell to Thuman Frederick Austin (Eagle Rock, Virginia), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 31, 2024 at the age of 83. Thuman touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hiram Simmons Austin, Sr. and Delphine Barger Austin; and his granddaughter Tiffany Olivia Kimberlin. He is survived by: his wife Sally "Joann" Teaford Austin of Covington; his children, Pamela Austin Hall (Tony Shiflett) of Covington, Carolyn Teaford Clarkson (Bruce) of Greensboro, NC, Sarah Dell Timis of New Market and Steve Austin of Covington; and his siblings, Betty Jo Austin Barger of Eagle Rock, Hiram Austin, Jr. (Barbara) of Eagle Rock and Raymond Austin (Connie) of Clifton Forge. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, one step granddaughter, five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Nicely Funeral Home (405 Alleghany St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Grove Baptist Church (693 Mt Moriah Rd, Eagle Rock, VA 24085).
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Boiling Spring Fire and Rescue.
