With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donald Simmons of Eagle Rock, Virginia, born in Iron Gate, Virginia, who passed away on November 6, 2021 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Jonathan Simmons, Sr. and Stella Gertrude Clarkson Simmons; his daughter Darlene Wimberley; his stepdaughter Jackie Lusk; and his siblings, A. J. Simmons, C. L. Simmons, Homer Simmons, Mary Cappalbi, Frances Bober, Hazel Piscunere, Bernice Deisher, Phyllis Huffman, Patsy Griner and Dorothy Myers.
He is survived by: his wife Robin Bartley Simmons of Eagle Rock; his children, Deanna Stepp (Jim) of Salem, Elizabeth Duncan (Rick) of Salt Rock, WV and David Simmons (Cari) of Chesterfield; his son-in-law James Wimberley of Weaverville, NC; his siblings, Alice Wilkerson of Lynchburg and Robert Simmons (Linda) of Covington; his stepsons, Joel Clark (Heather) of South Monroe, LA and Terrance Clark (Amy) of Columbia, PA; his grandchildren, Michael Duncan, Samantha Stepp, Melynda Stoffa, Katelinn Mohn, Alex Stepp, Ashley Wimberley, Dallas Wimberley, Hunter Simmons and Madelinn Simmons; and his great grandchildren, Kennedy Stoffa, Aiden Stepp and Lily Ward. He is also survived by seven step-grandchildren.
