He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Ervin and Madge Mitchell (McMillian); his son David Juell Mitchell; and his brother Hurley Carter. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Mitchell (Stone) of Dungannon, VA; his children, Hershell James Mitchell, Jr. (Tina) of Gate City, VA, Andy Stone of Dungannon, VA, Matt Stone of Dungannon, VA, Jackie Perry of Dungannon, VA, Frankie Tipton (Jack) of Church Hill, TN and Rachel Stone of Dungannon, VA; and his sister Shirley Lampkins of Abingdon, VA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic, the family asks that those attending wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
