With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Willard Whitson of Dugspur, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 1, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewitt Whitson and Mable Arnett Whitson; and his wife Virginia. He is survived by: his children, Vicki Hughes, Clinton Whitson and Greg Whitson; his granddaughter Jo Hughes; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Hughes and Joseph Hughes; and his siblings, Billy, Odell Whitson and Phyllis Lewis.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the East Parlor. A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home (800 E Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A graveside service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Monte Vista Memorial Park (1900 E Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601).
The family requests that in-lieu-of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to assist them with Mr. Whitson's final expenses.
