It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Walter Sonntag of Duffield, Virginia, born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, who passed away on October 24, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Dolores Sonntag; his parents, George Sonntag and Minnie Sonntag; and his siblings, Margaret, Florence, Bertha, Helen and George.
He is survived by: his children, William "Bill" Avery (Juli), Richard Avery, Steven Avery (Rita) and Diane Popick (Bob). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Due to covid-19 state regulations, those attending the visitation and funeral are asked to wear masks/facial covering. Social distancing guidelines will also be in place.
