He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Junior and Mary Elizabeth McNew (Stanley); and his wife Janie McNew. He is survived by: his daughters, Rebecca Lynn McNew, Brenda Lee Powell and Laura Beth McNew; his grandsons, Jonathan Alex McNew, Nathaniel Scott McNew, Landon Cole McNew and Elijah Daniel McNew; and his brothers, Bobby McNew (Vanie) and Gary McNew (Pam). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
