He is survived by: his wife Martha Townsend; his children, Angie Rhoton (Tim) and Matt Townsend (Heather); his grandchildren, Hannah Fritts (Derrick), Seth Rhoton (Samantha), Levi Townsend and Lily Townsend; his great grandchildren, Derrick Fritts, Jr. and Emma Fritts; his nephew Jacob Gilliam (Carli); his niece Kayla Townsend; and his siblings, Lily Bledsoe (Thomas), Barbara Calton (Gerald), Debbie Jarret (Coy), Kathy Gilliam, Sue Hilton (Toby), Lonnie Townsend (Norma), Roy Townsend (Nancy), Roger Townsend, David Townsend (Tina) and Joe Townsend.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Colonial Funeral Home (456 US-23, Weber City, VA 24290). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
