He is survived by: his wife Frances Powell Harper; his children, Leah Harper Jennings and Adam James Harper; his granddaughters, Grace, Addison and Lila; his brother George Ryland Harper, Jr.; his wife Carol Harper; and also Stephanie Ruth Harper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church or Mt. Hermon Fire Department.
