With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carolyn Cox Holcombe of Dry Fork, Virginia, born in Danville, Virginia, who passed away on December 15, 2023 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Milburn "Droopy" Cox and Della Thurman Cox; her sons, Mark Edward Bennett and Joseph "Joey" Linwood Bennett; and her siblings, Susan Cox Smith, Patricia Cox Akers and Denny Cox.
She is survived by: her husband James "Hokum" Holcombe; her sons, Michael Bennett (Stephanie) of Blairs, VA and Brian Bennett (Julie) of Chatham, VA; her stepdaughters, Karen Shields (Denny), Susan Emerson and Jeanie Moore (Bob); her grandchildren, Jordan Bennett, Garrett Bennett, Amber Farthing (Goldy) and James Shields (Olivia); her sister Judy Luther (Kerry); and her sister-in-law Susan Cox Humphries. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren; and her special pets.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Schoolfield Baptist Church, 12 Schoolfield Dr., Danville, VA 24541.
