He is survived by: his wife Shirley Jones Smith; his children, David L. Smith (Terri), Charles M. Smith, Susan L. Ramsey (Luke) and Lisa C. Davis (Mike); his grandchildren, Matthew, Mallory Smith, Melissa, Sarah Ramsey, Jennifer and Bree Davis; and his siblings, Charlie D. Smith, Jr. of Germanton, NC and Francis Crews of Scottsburg, VA..
