She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Roper and Ella Chambers Leath; her husband James Madison "Pete" Thrower; and her son Roper R. "Randy" Thrower. She is survived by: her daughter Sharoné "Cherie" Costello; her grandson Philip of Fredericksburg; her nieces, Virginia B. Griffin (Gene) and Barbara Ann Scruggs; her nephew Bobby L. Mizelle; and also Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Petersburg Home for Ladies Fellowship Fund, 311 S. Jefferson Street, Petersburg, Va. 23803 or to the Great Neck Baptist Church TWB, 1020 General Jackson Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
