He is survived by: his wife Ruth Scott; his daughter Aisha Shands; his siblings, Inez Lyons (Daniel), Earl Shands, Sr. (Phyllis) and Wesley Shands (Joan); his stepchildren, Lakisha Shands, Wayne Dean (Lisa), Leon Dean (Charlotte), Melvin Dean (Helen), Shelia Crawley (Leon) and Diane Flowers (Tyrone); his sisters-in-law, Annette Shands, Alice Williams, Janice Diggs and Catherine Mckensie; his godchildren, Trey, Linda, Raymond, Rodney, Demetrius Dunn and Jevonte Walker; his nephew Earl Shands Jr.; his nieces, Lasandra Shands Batts, Michale Shands and Jamille Shands-McQuire; and his friends, Deacon Ricky Jones, Frank Belle, Robert Bell, Antoinette Smith, Michael Evans, James Cooper, Shawn Hurte and Greg Jones. He is also survived by grandchildren; adopted daughters.
