He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Thomas Townsend and Gerty Slaughter Townsend. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Leigh Mayton Townsend; and his children, Cathy Lingerfelt (Wayne), Susan Stone and Elbert Randolph Townsend, Jr. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
