She was predeceased by: her parents, James Gray Spencer and Mary Wilson Pratt Spencer; her husband John Emmett "J. E." Staton, Sr.; her daughter Mary Catherine "Cathy" Staton; and her siblings, James G. Spencer Jr., Franklin M. Spencer, Whitcomb P. Spencer, Samuel Spencer and Mary S. Steger.
She is survived by: her son John E. Staton, Jr.; her grandchildren, John E. Staton, III and Jennifer S. Taylor (Garrett); her great grandchild Walker M. Taylor; and her sister Florence S. Willett of Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fork Union Chapter No. 111 Scholarship Fund, Order of the Eastern Star.
