She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Mitchell Jamerson and Berta Amos Jamerson; her husband Herman Lightfoot Dowdy; her daughter Sharon Dowdy Tew; and her siblings, Ruth Wooten, Robert Jamerson, Reuben Jamerson, Cora Leber and Edna Norman.
She is survived by: her daughter Janice Dowdy McCarthy (Mike McCarthy); her grandchildren, Lauren Michelle McCarthy (Josh Meeks) and Michael Joseph McCarthy; her stepgrandchildren, Morgan and Tyler; and her brother-in-law Guy Norman.
