He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Feild Hayes and Abbie Emerson Hayes; and his wife Rachel Stegall Hayes. He is survived by: his children, Richard Hayes (Jasmer), William Hayes (Susan), Abbie Bennett (Gary), Ron Hayes, Donna Sheffield (Benny) and Lin Hayes (Tracie); and his grandchildren, Christy, Amanda, Elizabeth, Marie, Justin, Mandy, Carl Wayne, Cody, Taylor, Beth, Katie, Nick, Josh, Tammy, April and Savana. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church (6405 Courthouse Rd, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22551). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church.
