He was predeceased by: his parents, Josef Bliemel and Lucy Bliemel. He is survived by: his former wife Mary Lynn Tackett of Irvington; his daughters, Elizabeth Bliemel Hurd (Michael) of Deltaville, Virginia and Deborah Jeanne Tackett of Coconut Grove; his grandchildren, Madeline Taylor Hurd and Carter James Hurd; and his sister Suzanne Handov McBride (Everett "Mick") of Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98, Deltaville, VA 23043.

“My name is James Bartosch age 60, I knew Jeff. His parents were my mother's sponsor as my mom Margaret Bartosch Bocon immigrated from West Germany around 1953. My mother is 90 still alive and still lives in the house we grew up. Obviously I wouldn't be here if his parents didn't help. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. But we remember Jeff and his parents. Thank you.”
