He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sherwood Smith and Mildred Virginia Kemp Smith; his wife Mary R. Billhimer Smith; his daughter Virginia Kay Belter of Grottoes; his stepchildren, Sandra Smith (James Triplett) of Hillsboro and Richard Eye (Lisa) of Staunton; and his stepgrandchildren, Jamie Smith (Kim), Megan Eye and Christopher Eye.
