He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Whetzel and Icie Jane Hinkle Whetzel; his wife Almeda Jean Thompson; and his siblings, Clarence Gene Whetzel, Curtis Whetzel, Cletus Whetzel and Carl Whetzel.
He is survived by: his son Rick Whetzel (Kelly) of Staunton; and his grandchildren, Brandon Rankin, Cassie Hall, Katelynn Henderson and Stephanie Wilson. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
