He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie Preston Poteat and Nettie Foster Poteat; and his spouse Nadyne Sykes Poteat. He is survived by: his children, Kathy P. Guthrie (Jimmy) of Danville, VA and Norman Eddie Poteat, Jr. (Linda) of Mooresville, NC; and his grandchildren, Dennis Edward Poteat and Amanda LaPrade. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest Providence Vol.
