He was predeceased by: his parents, Beverly Allen Rigney and Helen Barbour Rigney Gravely; his brother Roger Rigney; and his brother-in-law Terry Bailey. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Crews Rigney; his children, Melvin L. Rigney, Jr. (Meghan), Ashley Sink (Tim) of Axton, VA and Hunter Parnell; his grandchildren, Wayne Owens, III (Lexi) and Brittney Sink; his siblings, Rita Vasquez (Albino), Brenda Bailey, Patricia Newby, Allen Rigney (Nancy) and Ricky Rigney (Irene); and his aunt Juanita Stone. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Christian Fellowship Church (135 Winstead Dr, Danville, VA 24541).
