He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Mack Johnson and Juanita Sarah Jones Johnson; his wife Joyce Marie Harris Johnson; and his son Kenneth Howard Johnson, Jr.. He is survived by: his son Matthew Johnson (Cindy) of Danville, VA; his grandchildren, Ana Johnson, Levi Johnson (Malia) and Colton Johnson; his brother Wayne Mack Johnson (Patty); and his nephew Danny Johnson.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel (5858 Riverside Dr, Danville, VA 24541). A graveside service was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
