He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Testerman and Marie Burnette Strader; and his siblings, Nancy Lynn Bartley, Brian Strader and Tommy Burnette.
He is survived by: his children, Lindsay Saunders, Addison Atkinson, Joseph Allen Atkinson, Jr. (Shauna) and Hunter Atkinson; his stepchildren, Lessie Wilson and Trapper Wilson; and his brother Donald Wayne Strader. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
