He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivor Saunders and Doris Wrenn Saunders Gibson; and his brothers, Dan and Roger Saunders. He is survived by: his daughter Doris Hayden (Randy); his grandson D. Allen Thompson Jr.; his brother Ivor Saunders; and his close friend Earla Minter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
