He was predeceased by: his parents, James Kernodle and Virginia W. Kernodle; and his siblings, Lewis Kernodle, William Kernodle, Willie Kernodle, Ruth Anderson and Annie Mae Kernodle.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his children, Tammy, Kevin (Rena) and Michael; his grandchildren, Carrington Epperson (Michael), Kevin Kernodle II, Xavier Kernodle, Tyiona Downey, Caryn Kernodle, Kennedy Kernodle, Lovie and King; his great grandchildren, Emory and Aria; his goddaughter Ramona Coleman; his sisters, Rosa Lee Hairston and Jenny McClary; his daughters, Sheronda Kernodle and Chennetta Kernodle; and his caregivers, Mike Vaden, Angela Snow and Ernest Jeffers. He is also survived by sisters-in laws, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 9:00 AM, on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Baptist Church (399 S Main St, Danville, VA 24541).
