She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Asbury Carswell and Berta Mae Wilkins Carswell; her husband James David Mitchell; and her siblings, Luther Carswell (Arvis), Claude Carswell, Lenora Thigpen (James), Alice and Moore (Buddy).

She is survived by: her daughter Claudia Phillips (Tom); her granddaughters, Kelly Grubb and Melissa Janes (Kenny); and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Abby Grubb, Paige and Patrick Janes. She is also survived by sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Tabernacle in Danville.
