He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hopson Atkinson and Beatrice Daniel Atkinson. He is survived by: his wife Betty Weatherford Atkinson; his children, Bobby Gene Atkinson, Jr. and Tonya A. Barker (Kevin); his grandchildren, Megan Barker (Chris) and Kaleb Barker (Natalie); his great grandchildren, Holden and Noah Barker; and his sister Gayle A. Hodnett (Jack). He is also survived by his family, friends.
A graveside service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Burial Park (3049 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540).
