She was predeceased by: her parents, Randolph Dean and Buelah Dean; her son James Chaffin; her great grandchild Pryson Shepherd; and her sisters, Betty Patrick and Rita Jessee.
She is survived by: her husband Winston Junior Chaffin, Sr.; her children, Buelah Chaffin of Castlewood, Stephanie Carol Boyd (Spencer) of Lebanon, Virginia, Winston Chaffin, Jr. (Tyanna) of Castlewood and Michael Chaffin (Sherry) of Haysi, Virginia; her siblings, Frances Dean of Rockford, Illinois, Kenneth Dean of Oklahoma, Wayne Dean of Rockford and Ed Dean of Indiana; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Chaffin, Frances Farmer, Angela Farmer, Alisha Jessee, Faith Chaffin, Sophia Chaffin, Isabella Chaffin and Alex Boyd; and her great grandchildren, Bayley Chaffin, Temira Stiver, Isiah Shepherd, James Raines, Davina Raines and Luna Raines. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, a Graveside Service and Interment for Shirley Joan Chaffin will be conducted at 3:00 p. m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Justin Honaker officiating.
