He was predeceased by: his parents, Vonnie "Trap" and Mary Proffitt; and his brothers, Charlie Proffitt and George Proffitt. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Ann Proffitt; his children, Charles T. Proffitt (Hope) and Mary R. Proffitt; his grandchildren, Rebecca L. Simoni (Justin), Amanda M. Proffitt, Connor C. Proffitt and Chase P. Proffitt; his great grandchild Sherrod J. Ware; and his siblings, Gene Proffitt, Tracy Proffitt (Phyllis), Herb Proffitt (Carla), Roger Proffitt (Margie), Shelby Blevins, Linda Proffitt Weaver, Wanda Blevins (Wilton) and Joy Proffitt. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Mt. Rogers Volunteer Rescue and Fire Department, P.O. Box 47, Whitetop, VA 24292.
