He was predeceased by: his parents, John Walter and Ruby Estelle Burkholder (Ashburn); and his brother Fred Burkholder. He is survived by: his wife Fran Kemp Burkholder; his children, John Burkholder (Valery) of North Port, Florida and Jessica Sawyer (Chad) of Daleville, Virginia; his grandchildren, Alexander, Vanessa, Leonidas, Ava, Austin and Aiden; and his brother Phillip Burkholder (Penny) of Vinton, Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
