He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Glen Rakes and Elsie Rakes; his brother Carlton; his niece Whitney Rakes Vesterfelt; his siblings-in-law, Jere Pearsall and Doris Cox; his close friend Virginia Cox Rakes; his children, Pat Rakes (Jana) and Regina Cecil (George); his grandchildren, Sydney, Sophie, Patrick, Davis Rakes, Taylor and Logan Cecil; and his brothers, Reverend Elwood Rakes (Glenna) and Dexter Rakes (Jennifer).
