He is survived by: his wife Sue Allen Garten; his children, Robert Garten of Texas, David Garten (Delia) of Texas, Alan Peyton (Edie) and Karen Jenks of Roanoke Virginia; his grandchildren, Stephanie Garten, Tiffaney Garten, David Garten Jr. (Amanda) of Texas, Christopher Jenks (Carolyn), Ashley Poindexter (Kevin), Brian Jenks (Amber) and Crystal McBroom (Daniel); and his siblings-in-law, Richard Allen (Janice), Robert Allen (Barbara) and Linda Allen. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
