He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Nancy Hughes Goodman; his son David Hindle Goodman; his wife Patsy Griffin Goodman; his children, Susan Goodman Carden (David) and John Edward Goodman (Sadie); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Porter and Calvin; his stepdaughters, Gayle Noble (Robert), Kim Pierce and Gwenn McNeely; and his parents, Herbert Goodman and Edna Goodman. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and –nephews.
