He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Alexander and Ruth Grimes Alexander; his siblings, Liza Ragland, Lois Schoefield, Jane Shaw, Paul Alexander III and Robert Alexander; his granddaughters, Melinda Tidman and Cassandra Tidman; and his great grandchild Torvi Jean Kapp.

He is survived by: his wife Beth Tilberg Cahill; and his children, Kim Burgess Alexander (Susie) of Olongapo City, Philippines, Wade William Alexander (Peggy) of Philippi, WV, Kevin Robert Alexander (Debbie) of Purcellville, VA, Martha Alexander Stuart (Philip) of Mt. Jackson, VA and Victoria Anne Tidman (Graeme) of Culpeper, VA..
