Jerry S. Kegley Obituary
Jerry Spence Kegley, 78, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home in Culpeper, VA.
He was born on August 24, 1943 in Mercer County WV to Carl and Clara Kegley.
Jerry worked as a crane operator for most of his life and was particularly known for his can-do attitude. He lost his left hand in an accident in the early 70's but many would say Jerry could do more with one hand than many men could do with two.
Family was a big part of Jerry's life. He was always up for a cook out and ready to make his BBQ ribs and chicken followed by a game of horse shoes. He spent countless hours attending his grandchildren's sporting and dance events always followed by a cheer of "right on" from the crowd.
Throughout his life he showed his children and grand children what hard work looked like, but he was never too tired to share a laugh.
While the Alzheimer's Disease took many things, he never lost his fun-loving and sometimes silly personality.
Jerry was adored by many and will be deeply missed.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Kegley; his children Jeffrey Kegley, Lisa Burke and her husband Brian Burke; his grandchildren Daniel Kegley, Jeniece Kegley, Amanda Kegley, Kaitlyn Burke, and Jacob Burke; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Clara Kegley; his siblings Brenda Lee Kegley, Nila Shivers, Sarah Terrano, Anna Ennis, and Kermit Kegley; his son Adam Kegley; and his grandson Brandon Kegley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to the Alzheimer's Association
