She was predeceased by: her former husband J. Stuart Desper; her sister Ruth Barker; her stepson Edgar W Sims, III; her son-in-law Jeff DeShields; and her mothers-in-law, Dorothy Vess Desper and Beulah E. Sims.
She is survived by: her husband E. W. "Sonny" Sims, Jr.; her children, Joseph S. Desper, Jr. (Amanda) of Zebulon, NC and Tammy Lynn Desper of Charlottesville; her stepdaughters, Cindy Sims and Elizabeth Ann Sims of Culpeper; her grandchildren, Jordan Rebecca of Zebulon, NC, Jonathan Stuart of Zebulon, NC, Allison Elizabeth of Zebulon, NC and Andrew Joseph Desper of Zebulon, NC; her brother Earl Kirby (Cindy); her siblings-in-law, Norma Kirby, Wayne Desper (Peggy) and David Desper (Tim); and her close friends, Jack and Debbie Fincham. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St Jude Children's Hospital, 51 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, a charity dear to Jeannette's heart.
