Dorothy O'Bannon Schaeffer Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy O'Bannon Schaeffer (Culpeper, Virginia), who passed away on May 25, 2021, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was born in Rixeyville, Virginia on August 27, 1926 to Judson Browning O’Bannon and Ollie Gaye Curtis O’Bannon. She retired in 1987 as Commissioner of the Revenue of Culpeper County. She was an active member of Culpeper United Methodist Church serving on many committees. She was a volunteer at the Culpeper Hospital Auxiliary and active in the Culpeper Relay for Life. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Schaeffer Bridges and husband Michael Bridges in Mineral Virginia, her grandson Brandon Schaeffer Bridges in Chesterfield Virginia, his wife Rachael Bridges, and great-granddaughter Olivia Bridges and great-grandson Easton Bridges. Other survivors include niece Ann Beamer and husband Alan, nephew Steve Lane and wife Jo Gale, nephew Alan Lane and wife Karrie. Preceding Dot’s death were her parents, her husband Donald Monroe Schaeffer, sister Russell Lane and brother Billy O’Bannon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
