She was predeceased by: her parents, Rommie Evans and Nannie Belle Hayes; her brother Graham Hayes; her son James Bradford Smith; her sister Catherine Hayes Talbott; and her former husband James R. Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Ronald Evans Smith and Janie Teresa Smith; and her grandchildren, Kim Thompson Havens, Sarah Lenhart Brewer (Bryant), Noah Knakal Smith, Christopher Knakal, Jaclyn Smith Watson (Joe), Jamie Lynn Garner (John) and Sian Padric Smith. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the request of her family is to make donations to Charlotte County Cancer Society, the Barksdale Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, or local Rescue Squad.
