He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Dukes and Andrew Joseph Murphy, Sr.; his brother Thomas; his children, Mitchell and Shannon; and his former wife Marilyn.

He is survived by: his wife Darlene Murphy; his stepson Jay Shively (Mary); his stepgrandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob of Goochland, VA; his stepson Ken Shively (Jamie); his stepgranddaughter Katherine; his niece Joan Cavanagh; his great-nephew Sean; his great-niece Annie; and his goddaughter Mary Garwood (Mark).
